An Evening with Art Historian Natanya Blanck: Kahlo & Rivera

There are registration openings  for Natanya Blanck’s talk on Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo this Thursday at WPCA as part of the AWEsome event fundraising series. All the proceeds collected from registrations will go back into A.W.E. programs; providing free art workshops to underserved Milwaukee youth. She said she only painted herself because it was what she knew best.  He considered art a means to move the masses. She had a single solo exhibit in her native Mexico, less than a year before dying. He is considered one of the most influential artists of the Twentieth century. She was a feminist hero, described as ‘a ribbon around a bomb.’ He was a larger than life political figure who exerted influence on his country’s government. Join Natanya Blanck, Associate Professor of Art History at MIAD, to hear how – together- they made one of the most intriguing couples in the history of art. (Walkers Point Center for the Arts, Limit 50,  Fee: $50 per person)
