WPCA/SGCI Print Conference Free Events!

WPCA’s exhibition La Ceiba Gráfica is running in conjunction with the SGCI Conference: March 20 – 23 (at MIAD & UWM).  Join us for the many exciting and FREE events taking place around the conference!

March 20th is the first day of the print conference and we’re getting the party started, there’s not time to lose! Join Alterra, WPCA and the SGC International Conference for a celebration of printmaking in Milwaukee.  Local artists will be displaying prints for one night only.  This free event includes complementary hors d’oeuvres, Alterra coffee and tea, a cash bar and live music, you won’t want to miss it!

Join WPCA at the reception for La Ceiba Gráfica.  Featuring over 30 prints curated by the organization’s founding members, Per Anderson, Martín Vinaver, and Rafael Ruiz, La Ceiba Gráfica includes an eclectic mix of work by various artists exploring traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques.  La Ceiba Gráfica, a printmaking workshop located in Veracruz, Mexico, was founded in 2005 in order to encourage the creation of art and to contribute to helping the public gain access to the arts and art-making regardless of an individual’s economic situation.  The workshop contributes to enriching the lives of the regional community and works towards expanding accessibility to the arts and developing and perfecting the technical knowledge needed in engraving and lithography practices.  This exhibition will coincide with the Southern Graphics Council International (SGCI) Conference, the largest printmakers association in North America, expecting to bring up to 2,000 delegates from all 50 states to Milwaukee.

Gallery Talk/Moku Hanga & Papermaking Demonstration by Founders of La Ceiba Gráfica:

Join WPCA and the founders of La Ceiba Gráfica, a printmaking workshop located in Veracruz, Mexico, for a gallery talk with the public and the opportunity to explore Moku Hanga, a Japanese woodblock printmaking technique.  Founders Per Anderson, Martín Vinaver, and Rafael Ruiz will also be the keynote speakers for the SGCI Printmaking Conference at UWM on Thursday, March 21st.
