Meet Michael Davidson, 2014 Featured Members Juror

Each year during the Annual Members Show, a juror selects four exhibiting artists and awards each of them a Featured Members Exhibition. We are honored to have Michael Davidson, Chair of Fine Arts at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, as the 2014-15 Featured Members juror. Check out his bio below:

pic2After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1985, Michael moved out east to study at

Purchase College – State University of New York with Bob Storr and Irving Sandler. In 1988, while completing his Master of Fine Arts in Painting, he moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

While in New York City, he worked with curators and artists installing art for the Guggenheim Museum, International Center of Photography, The American Craft Museum and numerous galleries and private collections.

Michael started a creative consulting practice in 1992, and in 2011 started teaching at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, where he is currently the Chair of Fine Arts and teaches in both the Painting and Sculpture departments. His work has been exhibited at numerous galleries in the Midwest and in New York and is currently showing in “45 North”, a group show curated by Shane Mcadams at the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts.
