Join us for this AwA workshop based on artist Faith Ringgold’s Tar Beach story quilts.

Story quilts illustrate memories we shared with our family and moments of significance. We will be creating our own story quilts using fabric, paper and oil pastel, and learn how to compose a narrative from Faith Ringgold’s work and from her book Tar Beach.

Afternoons with Art (AwA) is offered during days when schools are not in session (based on MPS calendar). Think about it as a mini art camp. AwA also include winter and spring break programming as well as individual days during the semester (PTA, administration days…).Click here for more AwA dates.

“…it’s very easy, anyone can fly. All you need is somewhere to go that you can’t get to any other way. The next thing you know, you’re flying among the stars.” – Cassie Louise Lightfoot, Tar Beach.
