Join us for this AwA workshop based on artist Faith Ringgold’s Tar Beach story quilts.
Story quilts illustrate memories we shared with our family and moments of significance. We will be creating our own story quilts using fabric, paper and oil pastel, and learn how to compose a narrative from Faith Ringgold’s work and from her book Tar Beach.
“…it’s very easy, anyone can fly. All you need is somewhere to go that you can’t get to any other way. The next thing you know, you’re flying among the stars.” – Cassie Louise Lightfoot, Tar Beach.
