Walker’s Point Center for the Arts

WPCA launching creative multimedia campaign for safer streets

Milwaukee, WI – Walker’s Point Center for the Arts(WPCA)  is one of 18 organizations awarded a micro-grant from the Department of Public Works to reduce reckless driving in Milwaukee.  WPCA in collaboration with Nathan Adam Beadel of Team Nerd Press will hold series of poster making workshops were the public can  discuss and create health messaging content; learn simple design methods, letterpress printing with wood-type; and  create posters focused on reducing traffic related fatalities on the Pedestrian High Injury Network.  Youth and families who live in the near Southside of Milwaukee, specifically the Walker’s Point neighborhood, will engage in art-making to create messages in English and/or Spanish to bring awareness to the issues around traffic related fatalities in the neighborhood.

Walker’s Point Center for the Arts is a nonprofit organization in support of visual and performing arts and youth arts education. WPCA seeks to enhance the fellowship and vibrancy of Walker’s Point. We provide a welcoming, safe and diverse cultural environment for children, artists and the public in order to maintain an active community. The center fosters creativity in children through innovative teaching, in addition to encouraging public and community initiative through social development.
