In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, we are having a one day workshop that combines the art of spoken words and drawing inspired by his “I Have a Dream” speech.

The workshop will be led by poet Victoria Porter (of MVP Speaks) and teen mentors from Arts @ Large. Family of the students are welcome to join us in the last hour where we’ll perform what we created in the workshop.

December’s Afternoons With Art (AwA)

awa-logo-01For the month of December, Walker’s Point Center for the Arts will be hosting two 3-day AwA workshops.

December 21–23 & 28–30
Open to all children ages 6–12.

During week one, we will focus on channeling the holiday spirit of caring and creating warmth for ourselves and other with three diverse projects designed to teach children the meaning of giving through art.

Week two, we will make Mexican traditional corn husk art with artist Yesica Coria. Join us for this fun three day workshop for beginner to advanced learners.

St-Anthony-School_2014Walker’s Point Center For the Arts is seeking emerging artists to join our team of in-school artist-in-residents for the spring semester. Artists will lead students in 4–8 week projects in schools. Both visual and performing artists are accepted.
