Kate Bradley, Education Director
Kate Bradley is an experienced art educator licensed k-12 with an adaptive art specialist degree.  She graduated from Alverno College with a BA, studying Art Education / Art Therapy and Dance.  She is the current Education Director for Walker’s Point Center for the Arts where she has worked for nearly 5years to receive funding and the support for programs she manages including: on-site Art classes and off-site residencies, programming at partnering schools reaching 3,000 students annually.  Mrs. Bradley collaborates with artists, community members, organizers, principals, staff, interns and volunteers to provide quality arts education with an award winning multi-cultural curriculum.  Prior to this she taught art at the high school level in the gifted program.  While living in Washington DC, she offered art therapy for the treatment of children with emotional and behavioral issues. She has been trained in ethnic sensitivity, team building and conflict management.  Her talents and abilities extend to dance, yoga and sculpture.
 
Mary Sugiyama,  Assistant Education Director                  
Our onsite art classroom instructor is Mary Sugiyama, certified K-12 Art Educator. She received her BA in Education as well as a BFA in Art and Design from Alma College. During her studies she specialized in early childhood development with an emphasis on developmentally appropriate practice. Before moving to Milwaukee, she dedicated her spare time to work such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, in-school movement and literacy workshops, after school programs throughout Gratiot County, MI, and volunteer work with inner-city Chicago youth.  In the summer of 2009, she joined Walkers Point Center for the Arts as a summer intern and has since become an asset as WPCA’s Art Classroom Instructor.  Ms. Sugiyama acts as the lead classroom instructor for WPCA’s onsite programs such as WPCA’s Hands-On After School, Summer Art Camp, and Afternoons with Art.She collaborates with local and visiting artists, interns, and volunteers to provide students with creative and meaningful experiences at WPCA. Offsite, Ms. Sugiyama has worked as a partner instructor with various MPS schools and organizations throughout Milwaukee such as Betty Brinn Children’s Muesum and Arts@Large.
