Empowering Youth Week

April 10–17, 2017 (MPS Spring Break)

Join us for a weeklong empowerment workshop, celebrating community, freedom and strength within each of us! Drawing inspiration from the celebrated historic fiction In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, this workshop incorporates multi-disciplines in visual, performance and literary art, to teach students teamwork, self-expression and other empowering skills. We will make felt badges, write and perform poetry, and work on a collaborative mural, led by artist Diego Heredia.

NEABigRead-Color-LockupMPL.300dpiEmpowering Youth Week is a partnership with Milwaukee Public Library’s 2017 MKE Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership and Arts Midwest.
