WPCA provides several dynamic internship opportunities. Each internship will be customized on the intern’s experience, purpose, education and pursuit in their academic and professional careers.
Each internship may also provide learning opportunities about the applied aspects of nonprofit arts management and administration, fundraising and curatorial gallery maintenance.
Art Education Internship
Candidates should be pursuing an art education, fine arts, graphic design or related college/graduate degrees. Recent graduates and those with classroom experience may also apply.
A strong emphasis will be placed on teaching, mentoring, organizational and interpersonal communication skills. These skills will be strengthened while working with a diverse network of students, parents, administrators, community members and artists.
- Assist in prepping the classroom environment and supplies for daily use.
- Assist in daily instruction and classroom management.
- Leading students in small groups.
Qualifications: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Interns will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic. Self initiative and problem solving skills are especially important. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and take instruction is a must. Able to work well with diverse groups of youth, artists, community members and parents. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Fluent Spanish speakers are a plus!
Hours and Schedule: Interns may be expected a minimum of 4-10 hr/wk commitment between Tuesday-Friday from 12:00-5 pm. This is an unpaid opportunity. Credit may be applied towards your coursework, depending on your school’s program and course.
