We are honored to welcome artist and Creative Director of Jenie Gao Studio LLC, Jenie Gao, as this year’s Featured Member Exhibition (FME) Juror. Jenie will select four outstanding artists based on their artwork in our 2019 Annual Members Show. Each artist will be awarded a solo Featured Member Exhibition — each opens on Gallery Night seasonally. The 2019-20 Featured Member Exhibition series artists will be announced at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 30th, 2019, during the opening reception of the 2019 Annual Members Show.
Jenie Gao is a full-time artist, creative director, and entrepreneur. She specializes in printmaking, murals, and public installations. She strives to create records, cultural cornerstones, and community landmarks that claim space for diverse identities and connect us more deeply with our ecosystems. Prior to founding her business, Jenie worked in art, education, and lean manufacturing. Through her interdisciplinary work, Jenie advocates for creativity as a tool that builds connection, resilience, and community citizenry.
Jenie studied at Washington University in St. Louis and has exhibited and published nationally and internationally. Her work has been collected and published in the US, UK, Argentina, and more. Her recent solo shows have been at Museum of Wisconsin Art, Diane Endres Ballweg Gallery, and UW Whitewater’s Crossman Gallery in late 2019. She is a TEDx Madison speaker and former artist-in-residence at Proyecto’ace in Buenos Aires, Museo de Arte Moderno in Chile, Iowa Lakeside Laboratory, Artist Campaign School in Chicago, and more.
