Playback Theatre at WPCA, Thursday, May 14

Walker’s Point Center for the Arts is proud to present a public performance by Playback Milwaukee Theatre Company!
Thursday, May 14, 7–9 pm.

One night only! Do NOT miss it.

You’re invited to an evening of stories, memories, improv, music, movements and live painting! Milwaukee’s very own Playback improvisational  theatre group will bring their creative, interactive storytelling and entertainment to our Blue Box Theater space. The audience (you!) tell the conductor your story and the performers will play it back!

In Playback Theatre, an audience member tells a true-life story and then watches as Playback players re-enact the story on the spot. The stories may be funny or tragic or anything in-between, with the intention always to honor the storyteller.

Spring Break AwA at WPCA!

We have six days of Afternoons with Art during MPS Spring Break.

Afternoons with Art (AwA) is our art education program offered during days when schools are not in session (based on MPS calendar). Think about it as a mini art camp. AwA includes winter and spring break programming as well as individual days during the semester (see list of dates below).

AwA classes are fun and gives the students their own freedom to understand art and expression while guided by a structured curriculum and experienced art educators. All art supplies and a healthy snack are included in each class!

In the Realm of Innocents: An Exhibition of Mysticism and Lore

“Good Luck Painting” by Gina Litherland

January 30 – March 7, 2015
Open Reception: Friday, January 30, 5–9 pm.

Old stories live on through the retelling in each generation and are given new life from reinterpretation. We often learn about our own virtues through characters portrayed in folklore and fairy tales. In our exhibition In the Realm of Innocents we present six artists and their artwork that takes on classic iconography. The visual narrative can be seen as introspective of the artists, just as we often see ourselves in stories in which we are most drawn to.

The exhibition is curated by Michael Flanagan and Kimberly Storage.
