We are honored to present our last (most certainly not least) 20142015 Featured Member Exhibition featuring artist Kevin Wrencher. Join us for the unveiling of his new work from “A Story of A Shadow Boy” series, which explores self-identity and self-realization using mixed media of intaglio, fabric, paint and scratching.IMG_8212
Born in Chicago, IL, Kevin Wrencher considers himself an interdisciplinary emerging printmaker and writer. Wrencher is currently in his senior  year of study at Milwaukee institute of Art & Design, where he also has an emphasis in design and advertising, with addition to his major in Integrated Studio Arts.

Kevin Wrencher’s one of two entries in last year’s Annual Member Show, where he was awarded a Featured Member Exhibition.

Yet ignored
Shadowless shadow.
Yet a person.
Exist, to exist
Who is he?
“Living within his shadow.”
I say.
You said.
“Overshadowed with your words.”
I say.
“I have them!”
“I have them!”
I scream.
The opportunity.
To exist.
“Allow me to shine!”
I scream.
Allow me.
To be me.
“Allow him to be him.”
I say quietly
“I will not!”
You screamed forward
And I said nothing back…

The creation of A Story of A Shadow Boy series contextualizes who we are as individuals and if we are truly ourselves, and also the process of realizing  that we are not who we are, but that we’re the product of someone else’s idealisation.

Through forms of intaglio medium and mark making, I began to further this concept of self identity and self realization. This body of work was motivated by my childhood, growing up, where I began question who I was. Through forms of printmaking and mark making, I began to further this concept of self identity and self realization.
