Teen Programs

Artists in Action (AiA) (15-18 yrs of age) will consist of weekly, two-day workshops centered on community, identity, social analysis, mental health awareness and will explore how art can be used as activism. To attend ALL FALL sessions a $10 registration fee is required. Sessions are open to all students ages 15-18 (teens). All classes are in person. 
 
Artistas En Accion (15-18 años de edad) consistirá en talleres semanales de dos días centrados en la comunidad, la identidad, el análisis social, la conciencia de la salud mental y explorará cómo el arte puede ser utilizado como activismo. Todas las sesiones de la temporada son cubiertas con la cuota de registration de $10 y están abiertas a todos los estudiantes de 15 a 18 años (adolescentes). Todas las clases son presenciales.
 
Students will participate in a discussion reflecting on a film, article, book, artwork, etc. Wednesdays serve as studio time to bring individualized projects to life. They will be allowed to explore any medium that feels appropriate and express themselves creatively without boundaries. Open studio time will be complete with a sharing circle where students can share their productions and talk about their reflections.  Students will be tasked to collaborate with their peers and work alongside a community artist to create a public piece that evokes thought, conversation and awareness around the chosen topic at the culmination of the semester. 
 
Los estudiantes participarán en una discusión reflexionando sobre una película, artículo, libro, obra de arte, etc. Los miércoles sirven como tiempo de estudio para dar vida a proyectos individualizados.Se les permitirá explorar cualquier medio que se sienta apropiado y expresarse creativamente sin límites. El tiempo de estudio abierto se completará con un círculo de intercambio donde los estudiantes podrán compartir sus producciones y hablar sobre sus reflexiones.  Los estudiantes tendrán la tarea de colaborar con sus compañeros y trabajar junto a un artista de la comunidad para crear una pieza pública que evoque el pensamiento, la conversación y la conciencia sobre el tema elegido en el final.
