GENRE’D: EXPRESSIONS OF BLACKNESS

Genre: Urban Arts (GUA), established in 2016, is a media platform that connects creatives to an international community through workshops, courses, open calls. publications, curated exhibitions, pop-up performances, and their Revolutionary Art and Culture Residency centered on BIPOC perspectives. Founded by Nakeysha, GUA creates accessible opportunities for multidisciplinary artists to develop, publish, and showcase their work.

Built in response to the reality that creative growth is often treated as a privilege.

Genre: Urban Arts now supports a community of 3.200+ creatives each working within their own genre. GUA is a space of freedom and support-turning the intangible into the tangible and protecting the creative spirit in a world that often asks artists to abandon it.

Genred: Expressions of Blackness is a decades long retrospect and small glimpse of GUA’s and Nakeysha’s past, present, and future collaborators in creation.
