Ck Ledesma is a transdisciplinary Afro-Taino artist from San Juan, Puerto Rico, living in the diaspora in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Besides art practices, they are passionate about serving their community while building authentic relationships and the liberation of all BIPOC people. They co-founded Cosecha Creative Space, a community-focused “space” that centers connections, understanding, and building togetherness through creative engagement, mutual aid, and the arts: “We connect with our community(ies) to understand our collective/shared humanity and build togetherness—building together through art creation.”
Ledesma was named the 2022 Artists of the Year, a 2020 Mary L. Nohl Fellow, has served at the artist-in-residence for the Cesar Chavez Drive Business Improvement District in Milwaukee, the Mitchell Street branch of the Milwaukee Public Library, and Casa Candela in Cayey, Puerto Rico. Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Racine Art Museum and through the Museums Association of the Caribbean and, most notably, within the community.
Ck Ledesma es un artista afrotaino transdisciplinario de San Juan, Puerto Rico, que vive en la diáspora en Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Además de las prácticas artísticas, les apasiona servir a su comunidad mientras construyen relaciones auténticas y la liberación de todas las personas BIPOC. Cofundaron Cosecha Creative Space, un “espacio” centrado en la comunidad que centra las conexiones, la comprensión y la construcción de unión a través del compromiso creativo, la ayuda mutua y las artes: “Nos conectamos con nuestra(s) comunidad(es) para comprender nuestro colectivo/compartido. humanidad y construir unión, construir juntos a través de la creación de arte”.
Ledesma fue nombrada Artista del Año 2022, becaria Mary L. Nohl 2020, ha trabajado en la residencia de artistas del Distrito de Mejoramiento Empresarial Cesar Chavez Drive en Milwaukee, la sucursal de Mitchell Street de la Biblioteca Pública de Milwaukee y Casa Candela en Cayey, Puerto Rico. Su trabajo ha sido exhibido a nivel nacional e internacional en el Museo de Arte de Racine y a través de la Asociación de Museos del Caribe y, más notablemente, dentro de la comunidad.
