Featured Member Exhibition: Jackie Berta (She/Her)

Jackie Berta created these works with the idea in mind of transitional places. With her intense interest in the use of materials she builds models of vestibule-like constructions, constraining herself to only use materials found in traditional painting. These works are an immersive experience, and much like the real-world places, the viewer may go in and emerge out of them differently in some way however slight it may be. With background in sculpture, she pushes the boundaries of what a painting is. Her work aims to strip paint of all its previous associations yet ask the viewer to still reckon with it as a painting.
