September 2 – October 8, 2016
Opening reception: Friday, September 2, 5:00–9:00 pm.
WPCA’s non-juried Annual Members Show is dedicated to showcasing the artwork of our vastly talented artist members. Over 150 pieces in a wide range of media are presented salon-style throughout the gallery, creating an exuberant display of color, texture, form and flow. The style of the artwork varies as much as the medium. Anyone can enter up to three pieces of work by becoming a WPCA member.
The opening reception in itself is a creative salon. Art lovers and exhibiting artists, budding and esteemed, gather to converse, connect and share creative ideas and techniques. For many artists, WPCA’s Annual Members Show has become a tradition and one their favorites to show artwork. Exhibiting artists also have the chance to be selected as one of four Featured Member artists.
2016-17 Featured Member Exhibition Series
Each year, a juror selects four outstanding artists based on their artwork in the Annual Members Show – each awarded a solo Featured Member Exhibition. Each exhibition opens on Gallery Night and runs for approximately 10 weeks. We are honored to have artists, curator and educator Mark Lawson as this year’s juror. Mark has been a champion of Milwaukee’s art community for decades. He is an instructor and the director of galleries at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. He is also one of the founders and organizers of Riverwest Artist Association and Jazz Gallery, which has for decades been an important incubator of visual, performance art as well as jazz and experimental music. More on Mark Lawson…
The four artists selected will be announced during the opening reception on September 2, 2016.
