12th Annual Youth Art Show: Bridging Communities

OPENING RECEPTION July 19, 2023 | 5pm-7pm
This annual exhibition centers art produced and made by youth artists during WPCA’s 2024 Summer Art Camp, featuring projects in stop motion, environmental art, cinematography, masks and mixed media.
Artists include summer art camp youth ages 6-18 years of age in collaboration with guest artists Cole Kirkendall, CaBeatrice, Adwoa, Julio Pabon, Joan Luciano, and Tayla Hart.

STOP MOTION

Join filmmaker Cole Kirkendall for a week of stop motion magic! Young creators will animate their own stories, transforming ideas into visual tales with the help of peers and the WPCA team.
ENVIRONMENTAL ART
Week 2: June 25-28) |25-28 de junio
LDive into environmental art with CaBeatrice from Mystic Phoenix Art! Children will repurpose found objects from their surroundings to craft unique artworks, learning about environmental justice along the way.
FILMMAKING I & II

Step into the spotlight with Oscar & Marz for a two-week film adventure! Students will experience filmmaking from script to screen and debut their community-themed short film at the 12th Annual Youth Art Show.

Get hands-on with art installation during our special Install Week! Teens will prepare for the grand opening of the 12th Annual Youth Art Show on July 19th.
MASK MAKING

Mask your imagination with Adwoa in paper clay mask making! Explore the rich traditions of African and Indigenous art, and craft masks that tell stories through symbols and patterns.
DANCING & DRUMMING @ LYNDEN

Tuesday-Friday 9 am-5pm at Lynden Sculpture Garden where their collection of monumental outdoor sculpture and temporary installations with the natural ecology of hidden landscapes and unique habitats are incorporated into all-senses-engaged outdoor experiences. Immerse in Afro-Caribbean culture at Lynden Sculpture Garden with Julio Pabon and Joan Luciano. Our youth will create and perform in an end-of-week showcase celebrating vibrant cultural traditions
MIXED MEDIA ART
Week 8: August 6-9 | 6-9 de agosto
Unleash creativity in mixed media with Tayla Hart! Young artists will learn to express themselves through charcoal, watercolor, ink, and air dry clay sculptures.
